The village of Kapiyo, Kenya has over 30,000 people. Over one third are orphans. Drinking water comes from polluted lakes and working irrigation canals. Sewage consists of a hole in the ground that is sometimes pumped, but often overflows into local bodies of water. As you can see, the needs are great. Fred Outa is one of Kapiyo's many orphans. Adopted by an American missionary couple he was raised and educated in the United States. Now he's returned to Kenya to help his people. With Fred's help, villagers are now planting 4500 acres of rice and establishing a school that provides both an education and at least one nutritious meal per day.
Mark Plummer, one of our elders, has called upon us to help Fred and the orphans of Kapiyo. So far, Mark and his team have been to Kapiyo twice. They have put in a well and pump that now provides fresh, clear, clean water and they have put in a septic field to accommodate brand new shower and restroom facilities. However, there is much, much more to accomplish. Joining with a team from Hawaii, Mark and his team want to bless the children of Kapiyo even further.
